“As a stylist of 20 years I’ve seen many products make extravegant claims and I was keen to try Albage for myself with a healthy skepticism. Firstly, Albage is a premium/luxury lightening alternative which carries an additional cost for guests. It requires very specific mixing guidelines and application. The product itself is considered a “treatment “ and is the first step in a three part system, which includes the Hairtimecess wet line and Repronizer beauty device. Some stylists may find these additional steps cumbersome, however, our Salon practices many of these approaches so I appreciate the fastidious nature of the products.
The texture of Albage is very creamy and smooth and the smell is mild and inoffensive. I’ve done foil, on-scalp, and balayage applications and found that it applies beautifully. When it touches my finger, I notice no burning or stinging, which is common in conventional bleaches. The lift is neutral and controlled throughout all levels however there’s no discernible pigment additive to neutralize warm tones. It appears that Albage zones in on pheomelanin which creates the perfect raw lift.
Upon washing out Albage, the hair fiber is noticeably hardy and not stretchy or gummy in the least. It’s as if the melanin pigment itself has been “extracted”, leaving the hair strand lighter and blonder but feeling as if it was still intact. All I could say was wow! After numerous guests as well as duplicatable and reliable results, I can confidently state that the chemistry used to formulate Albage is revolutionary.
Upon completing the Hairtimecess routine to hydrate and nourish my guests’ strands and finishing with the Repronizer beauty device to seal everything to a mirror-like finish, the end result is silky smooth and extremely shiny. The freshly lifted hair literally sparkles because the cuticle is so healthy. There’s absolutely no shed or broken hair. In fact, the hair feels better than it did before. It’s mind blowing!
